A man died from electrocution on the [Rodalies R4 line](https://www.renfe.com/?ref=barna.news) early on Friday, 24 April, halting train services between Martorell and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The incident occurred around 04:00, leading to a full stoppage of railway traffic in both directions.

[Adif, the railway infrastructure manager](https://www.adif.es/?ref=barna.news), initially reported the complete paralysis of services on this section. The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, requested the service interruption between 06:27 and 06:54\. This incident significantly affected commuters travelling through the Barcelona metropolitan area, including those from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a major transport hub.

## Emergency Response Activated

[Protecció Civil de Catalunya](https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google/?ref=barna.news), the region's civil protection agency, activated a pre-alert phase of the railway emergency plan, Ferrocat. They took this preventative measure due to the severity of the incident and the widespread transport disruption. The Rodalies network is a critical commuter system for thousands of residents daily.

Adif later communicated the full re-establishment of services on the affected line via its official social media account. While trains could use the tracks again, operators expected a gradual return to normal frequencies and schedules. This allowed for the absorption of accumulated delays.

## Service Resumes, Pre-Alert Deactivated

With train traffic guaranteed to resume and the situation on the tracks normalised, Protecció Civil deactivated the Ferrocat pre-alert. This marked the official end of the incident response. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the exact circumstances of the electrocution.
