[L'Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council](http://www.l-h.cat/?ref=barna.news) is opening applications this Saturday for 27 new local police agent positions. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen the local police service, with 40% of the roles reserved for women. The goal is to increase female representation within the force and promote equality.

## Boosting Female Representation

The application period for these roles will run until June 15\. The City Council stated that reserving 40% of the positions for women directly addresses gender equality within the Guardia Urbana, the local police force. This measure seeks to create a more balanced and representative public service for the city's diverse population.

## Modernising Local Policing

This recruitment forms part of L'Hospitalet's broader "[modernisation process](https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google/?ref=barna.news)" for its local police. The City Council has actively pursued improvements to the force over recent months. L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona's second-largest city, relies on a strong local police presence to maintain order and ensure public safety. This ongoing effort reflects a commitment to effective urban management.

Since June 2024, 60 new agents have already joined the department. These previous hires, combined with the current recruitment drive, contribute to a stronger police presence across the city. They also help improve response times and overall public safety for the city's residents and visitors.

## Future of the Guardia Urbana

Successful candidates from this recruitment process will join the Guardia Urbana, further enhancing the city's commitment to a strong and representative local police service. The City Council expects these new agents to start work soon after the selection process concludes. This ongoing investment ensures the force can meet the evolving needs of a dynamic urban environment.
