## Residents Voice Concerns After Storm Damage

The La Floresta Neighborhood Council held a meeting on Tuesday 6 October 2026 to address the aftermath of heavy rains that struck the area on 29 September. Chair Francesc Duch acknowledged the ongoing recovery efforts, stating, "everything is very recent and there is a lot of work to be done," and confirmed that all municipal services have been activated. Duch announced that financial aid from the Generalitat will be made available to affected residents, with a focus on strengthening flood prevention measures in the future. He urged patience as assessments and clean-up operations continue.

## Landslides and Access Disruptions Continue

Municipal teams are currently focused on clearing landslides and fallen trees, particularly in the districts of Les Planes and La Floresta. The Vallvidrera road access to Les Planes remains closed due to damage, affecting local mobility. While the municipal bus service has resumed, some routes are still operating under altered conditions. Electricity has been restored to all homes, and inspections of public facilities are underway to determine when they can safely reopen.

> “Here no one has come to help us,”

Residents of the Passeig dels Avellaners, one of the hardest-hit areas, reported spending Wednesday cleaning mud, debris, and ruined household items from their homes. Some said they felt abandoned after an initial emergency response on Tuesday involving firefighters, civil protection (ADF), municipal brigades, and city officials. By Wednesday, visible support had diminished sharply. Oriol Coromines, a resident, said: “We’re doing what we can, but our arms are only so strong. We need help, any kind.”

### Claims Process for Damages Underway

Homeowners, businesses, and vehicle owners affected by the floods can claim compensation through the Insurance Compensation Consortium (CCS). To file a claim, individuals must have a valid insurance policy and report the incident either to their insurer or directly via [consorseguros.es](https://consorseguros.es/?ref=barna.news). The Ajuntament de Cugat advises residents to:

- Take photos and videos of all damages
- Begin cleanup to prevent further deterioration
- Keep official invoices, receipts for emergency repairs, and documentation showing name and address

Citizen Service Offices in the city centre and local neighbourhoods are open to assist with reporting incidents and answering questions about the claims process.
