La Caixa moves headquarters back to Barcelona after 7 years citing political stability

La Caixa, under the leadership of Isidre Fainé, has decided to return its headquarters from Palma de Mallorca to Barcelona after more than seven years, citing the normalization of the political situation in Catalonia.

This move follows a similar decision by Sabadell and is seen as a positive sign of stability in the region. Criteria, the holding company managing La Caixa’s industrial investments, will also relocate. La foundation maintains a strong commitment to its roots and social initiatives, emphasizing its historical ties to Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. CaixaBank, however, plans to remain in Valencia, unaffected by La Caixa’s decision. This shift signals a significant development in the corporate landscape of Catalonia. Will other companies follow suit and return to the region as well?
