## L'Hospitalet Launches Mental Health Month

L'Hospitalet has launched its annual Mental Health Month, a city-wide initiative running throughout October 2026 that features around thirty free public activities aimed at promoting emotional well-being and reducing stigma. The programme coincides with World Mental Health Day on Friday 10 October and is driven by the Sectoral Table on Mental Health and Addictions, in collaboration with local entities, services, and stakeholders. The theme for this year’s campaign is "In L'H, we accompany your mental health", a slogan developed by young participants from the Fundació Orienta and Fundació Salut i Comunitat. The full calendar includes workshops, cultural events, sports activities, and community gatherings designed for people of all ages.

### Workshops, Sports and Community Activities

A range of therapeutic and creative workshops are scheduled, including sessions on yoga, meditation, self-awareness, wool therapy, and therapeutic theatre. Book clubs and family-oriented events are also part of the programme, many hosted at the Bellvitge Library. Sports-focused events include an inclusive petanque tournament, a football match, and a healthy walk across L'Hospitalet. The walk will introduce participants to the Youth Health Point (Punt de Salut Jove), a municipal service offering guidance on emotional well-being, sexuality, nutrition, and substance use for adolescents and young people.

> This month is about visibility, awareness, and support, building a community that listens and accompanies.

### Youth and Cultural Initiatives

Young people are a key focus, with the event "My Head is Spinning. Youth and Mental Health" set for Wednesday 22 October. It will feature music, interactive workshops, and discussion spaces centred on emotional well-being. Cultural offerings include multiple art exhibitions: "The Trace of Happiness" at Bellvitge Library; "Between Hands" at the L'H Youth Office; "You Hold the Key" and "I Want to Move You" at Tecla Sala Central Library; and the fifth edition of "Emocionart" at the L'H Nord Mental Health Unit-CSMA. Performing arts include the children's play "The Sleepy Rooster", which explores empathy, friendship, tolerance, and respect. The "Listen to Art" programme uses artistic creation as a tool to address mental health and challenge stereotypes among youth.

### Final Week Highlights: Conference and Plan Launch

A round table discussion titled "Activate Self-Esteem and Deactivate Stigma" will take place on Wednesday 29 October at the Barradas Auditorium. It will bring together individuals with lived experience, professionals, and activists to discuss barriers faced by those with mental health conditions. The month concludes on Thursday 30 October at 10:00 with a professional conference at the Youth Health Point (Avinguda del Carrilet, 312, -1 floor). There, the Ajuntament de L'Hospitalet will present the city’s first Mental Health Plan, a strategic document outlining actions for emotional well-being, prevention, and citizen support over the coming years. The new Youth Health Point facility will also be officially introduced.
