The sentence was handed down on Tuesday 27 October 2026 at the Barcelona High Court following a plea agreement between the defendant, prosecution, and private accusers. Initially, the prosecution had sought a 40 and a half year sentence for multiple counts of continuous sexual abuse, sexual assault with penetration, and the production and possession of child pornography. However, the sentence was reduced after the defendant admitted guilt and paid €140,000 in compensation to the victims. According to the prosecution, the man used his position of trust to groom and manipulate students, offering private lessons and massages that escalated into sexual acts. Abuse occurred in various locations, including the gym’s tatami, the women’s locker room, which he locked during incidents, and at his home. His influence and reputation allowed him to maintain access to minors over an extended period. --- ## Conviction and Additional Penalties As part of the sentence, the man must also pay €25,100 in legal costs to the four private accusers. He has been disqualified from working with minors for 36 years and from exercising parental or guardianship rights for five years. For five years after his release, he is banned from contacting or approaching any of the victims. He will also be under supervised release for nine years. > The abuse took place in spaces where he had exclusive access, exploiting the trust placed in him as a respected instructor. Police from the Mossos d'Esquadra searched his home and office following his arrest in May 2023 and discovered dozens of video files of the assaults, along with thousands of images of child pornography. The investigation was triggered after one victim’s mother found suspicious messages and another boy disclosed the abuse in a letter to his parents a year after it occurred. ## History of Offending The defendant had previously been fined €1,620 in 2000 for a sexual abuse offence. He has been in preventive detention since his arrest in May 2023\. Although other former students came forward after his arrest, those cases were time-barred due to legal limitations.
