The reprimand, approved on Friday 25 September 2026, marks the sixth time Collboni has faced formal censure since taking office, according to Junts per Barcelona. The motion was led by Junts, supported by the Partido Popular (PP) and Vox, while Barcelona en Comú and ERC abstained. The ruling PSC was left isolated in defending its management of the area. ## Residents Report Degradation, Government Cites Action In July 2025, a coalition of Sant Antoni civic entities sent a formal letter to Eixample district councillor Jordi Valls and Ciutat Vella councillor Albert Batlle, warning of the neighbourhood’s “degradation” and describing problems that go beyond mere coexistence. "It's much more than a coexistence problem: it's a reflection of structural poverty that leads to uncivil behavior and risks for everyone," the letter stated. Jordi Valls, Eixample councillor, confirmed the plan is being implemented, though progress is difficult. According to Valls, police presence has increased significantly and additional social services have been mobilised to assist vulnerable individuals. He also cited the recent renovation of Ronda de Sant Antoni, completed after years of temporary arrangements, as a structural improvement. Since the start of the term, the council has held 45 meetings with local residents and business owners to address concerns. > The decision is that we move forward with the approved project. But we must manage public space to respect neighbours.
