For tenants and residents facing the end of a rental agreement, the organisers are demanding that rental contracts become indefinite rather than expiring after a fixed term. They also want lower housing prices and the compulsory acquisition of homes held by large property owners, according to statements reported by EFE. The protest was initially called after the death of Olga, a woman who had been evicted from her home in L'Hospitalet, the SHSC said. A group of demonstrators will leave Plaça d'Espanya in Barcelona at 18:00, an hour before the L'Hospitalet demonstration is scheduled to start. --- ## Organisers criticise two separate housing decrees The groups are seeking pressure on the Spanish Government and its parliamentary partners over two housing decrees announced after Tuesday's Council of Ministers meeting. The Tenants' Union has criticised the measures being divided into two decrees, arguing that this could put at risk a change to make all rental contracts indefinite. Carme Arcarazo, spokesperson for the Tenants' Union, said the organisation would assess the detailed wording before deciding whether the measures met its demands. > “We are waiting to see the fine print of the decrees to determine if they are a farce or not.” Arcarazo said the union was not, for now, planning an encampment like one under way in Madrid. She called for continued mobilisation to secure changes to the housing system. ## Saturday's travel plans - **18:00:** a contingent is due to leave Plaça d'Espanya in Barcelona. - **19:00:** the demonstration is scheduled to begin in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. - **Demands:** indefinite rental contracts, lower prices and action targeting large property owners.
