She said participants took turns on watch and intend to keep their routines while remaining in the square. Damià, another participant around 20 years old, said he rents outside Barcelona and spends half his salary on housing. He argued that housing should not be treated as a business but as a basic human right. One aim of the encampment, he said, is to build collective networks and mutual organisation among young people facing similar struggles. ### National Context The Plaça Catalunya action follows a similar housing protest set up last Saturday in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol.
