Barcelona is putting on a series of free trick-or-treat events for children this Halloween, with the Poblenou, Les Corts and Gràcia rounds (the neighbourhoods' own versions of the tradition) still to come on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October. The programme, which [El Periódico](https://www.elperiodico.com/es/barcelona/20261029/halloween-2026-barcelona-son-barrios-regalan-caramelos-135800941?ref=barna.news) first reported and [Time Out](https://www.timeout.es/barcelona/es/noticias/truco-o-trato-este-halloween-2026-en-barcelona-barrios-donde-dan-caramelos-gratis-si-vas-disfrazado-102626?ref=barna.news) and [Barcelona Secreta](https://barcelonasecreta.com/en/trick-or-treat-barcelona-free-candy-halloween/?ref=barna.news) set out in full, runs from 22nd to 31st October.

The ground rules are identical across the city. Entry costs nothing, children are expected to dress up, and each one must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Only shops and venues that have signed up give out sweets, so keep an eye out for the marked doors instead of knocking at any shop.

## Coming up: Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October

### Poblenou: balloon trail along the shopping street

Children gather at Plaça Rosa Peraulet on Friday 30th October between 17:00 and 20:00\. From there they make their way along the neighbourhood's main commercial axis, hunting for orange and black balloons in shop windows. Every shop displaying a balloon is a sweet stop. Entry is free, and treats are handed out only at the shops taking part. The rest of the district's events are listed on our [What's On in Sant Martí](https://barna.news/whats-on-in-sant-marti/) page.

### Les Corts: costume trail from Pedralbes

Les Corts also sets off on Friday 30th October from 17:00, starting at the Espai del Mirall de Pedralbes. Costumed children call at the local shops taking part, gathering sweets and small surprises along the way. Other nearby plans can be found in [What's On in Les Corts](https://barna.news/whats-on-in-les-corts/).

### Gràcia: shop trail in the morning, photocall in the afternoon

Gràcia begins at 11:30 on Saturday 31st October with a trick-or-treat tour of the participating shops. At 17:30 a "terrifying" photocall offers families a themed backdrop for costume photos. Several street parties take place in the neighbourhood the same day (see below). Further listings are available on [What's On in Gràcia](https://barna.news/whats-on-in-gracia/).

## Already happened: Tuesday 27th October

Two neighbourhoods got the programme under way earlier this week, so make a note of these for next year.

- **Sant Gervasi.** Face painting for children ran from 17:00 at the Centre Cívic l'Elèctric, after which the youngsters went from door to door gathering sweets. Advance registration was required to take part. Further details are available at [What's On in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi](https://barna.news/whats-on-in-sarria-sant-gervasi/).
- **Barceloneta.** A shared chestnut roast got under way at 17:00\. At 17:30 a family show followed, featuring magic, clowns and music, and at 19:00 a free tour of neighbourhood shops set off to collect sweets.

## Further local neighbourhood plans

Alongside the main routes, [Barcelona Secreta's Castanyada guide](https://barcelonasecreta.com/en/halloween-castanyada-barcelona-2/?ref=barna.news) features a number of smaller events aimed at families. For most of them, times and prices are not listed, so it is worth confirming with the organiser before you travel.

The small-scale events are concentrated on Friday 30th October. In Sant Antoni there is "Castaween", a Halloween trail for younger children around shops belonging to the Sant Antoni Comerç association. Shops in El Clot and Camp de l'Arpa are running "Piruleta o malifeta!". A family show, "Castanyes i xocolatada", takes place in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi at the Casal de Barri Espai Putxet (Carrer de Marmellà 13), while Sant Martí hosts "Nit d'ànimes" at the Ca L'Arnó play centre (Carrer de Menorca 21).

Two street parties are taking place in Gràcia on Saturday 31st October. Carrer del Progrés is holding a family castanyada, the traditional chestnut and sweet potato celebration, from 17:00 to 21:00, with family karaoke and DJs on the programme. Carrer de Mozart stages its own "Castaween" from 18:00, offering face painting for children and a musical quiz until 20:00, followed by DJs until 23:30.

Children's castanyadas are also taking place today, Thursday 29th October, at three venues: Plaça del Rei, the Centre Cívic Convent de Sant Agustí (Carrer del Comerç 36) and the El Coll children's centre (Carrer de l'Aldea 15).

## If you would prefer to buy a ticket

Trick-or-treating costs nothing but does not last long. For families after something that fills more of the day, these paid alternatives are recommended by [Barcelona Secreta](https://barcelonasecreta.com/en/halloween-awaits-you-with-these-10-plans/?ref=barna.news) and [Time Out's guide to Halloween and the Castanyada](https://www.timeout.es/barcelona/es/que-hacer/fiestas-de-halloween-y-castanyada-en-barcelona?ref=barna.news).

- **Creepy Halloween Family, Poble Espanyol.** A trail built around puzzles, with more than 30 characters and haunted tunnels graded by scare level. It runs at weekends until 1st November; the gentler tunnel is open from 10:00 to 16:00, with moderate scares from 17:00\. Barcelona Secreta sells tickets from €14.50, while our own [event listing](https://barna.news/whats-on-creepy-family-at-poble-espanyol-a-terrifying-halloween-2026-10-17/) gives a starting price of €16.45, so check the price when booking.
- **La Castanyera at La Pedrera.** On Saturday 31st October, families with children aged 5 to 10 can join a 90-minute workshop in which youngsters follow clues through the building to track down the Castanyera.
- **Castaween at the Chocolate Museum.** Halloween chocolate workshops at Carrer del Comerç 36 on 30th and 31st October, from €12, museum admission included.
- **Mission Castaween, Paradox Museum.** Young visitors hunt for six concealed characters and receive a gift-shop prize. Plaça d'Urquinaona 3, runs until 1st November, tickets from €14, with a €3 charge to join the mission.
- **Tibidabo.** Halloween shows, zombies and themed attractions until 8th November, from €15.50.

## Practical advice

- Arrive on time: most routes depart from a designated meeting point.
- Not every shop is taking part. Only participating or marked businesses give out sweets, so if you are unsure, ask the local shop association.
- Bring a bag and warm clothing: the Poblenou route runs until 20:00, when it will already be dark.
- The Poble Espanyol family event, which features a less intense tunnel during daylight hours, and the Sant Antoni trail are both aimed at younger children.
