## Chinese automaker establishes major presence

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially opened a 4,500-square-metre 'super dealership' in Barcelona’s Sant Andreu district, marking a significant step in its European rollout. The new sales and service hub, operated through Auto Almogàvers, serves as GWM’s official headquarters in Spain and reflects the company’s commitment to establishing a long-term presence in the European market. The launch event on Thursday 15 October 2026 featured José Ignacio Olazábal, general director of GWM Spain, and Josep Albert Vallcorba, CEO of Auto Almogàvers. Vallcorba stated the partnership is expected to contribute 12% of the dealership’s projected turnover in the next fiscal year, amounting to 70 million euros, and would effectively double its 2026 revenue expectations.

## New models and future production plans

At the event, GWM unveiled the H7 SUV, available in petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid versions. This follows the launch of its first Spanish-market model, the Ora 5 passenger car, on 30 June 2026\. According to GWM’s commercial strategy, seven new models will be introduced in Spain between late 2026 and early 2027\. Olazábal confirmed to *Expansión* that Spain is under active consideration for future manufacturing, saying: "España ha estado en los planes de fabricación de GWM y lo estará." He noted logistical efficiency, not just EU tariffs, is a key driver for local production, with Chinese delegations already in talks with regional governments. GWM will begin assembling electric vehicles imminently in Bulgaria through a local partner.

> We are not setting volume targets for the remainder of the year; the important thing is to start getting cars on the road and for people to get to know us.

## Expanding network and market ambitions

GWM currently operates over 40 sales points in Spain and aims to reach 50 by the end of 2026, covering more than 80% of the national territory. The company’s long-term goal is to expand to around 100 dealerships by 2027 for full national coverage. A logistics centre in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara) supports parts availability and service operations. The company targets 20,000 annual registrations in Spain within two to three years, aiming for a 3% market share in the private buyer segment. GWM’s portfolio in Spain includes the Ora 5, H7, and P500 models, as well as offerings under its Tank and Wey brands, covering SUVs, off-road vehicles, and pick-ups. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Baoding, China, GWM operates in 170 countries with over 1,500 dealerships worldwide. The brand emphasizes advanced technology, connectivity, and competitive pricing as core to its European strategy.
