Currently a paved street with limited greenery, the project will introduce vegetation, flowerbeds, cobblestone paving and wide sidewalks to improve pedestrian access and climate resilience. The design maintains a central lane for vehicles and cycling, while preserving access to driveways and loading zones. Sustainable drainage and water infiltration will be enhanced through permeable materials and increased planting. The project, budgeted at €1,493,511.40 including VAT, has been approved and is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027, with construction expected to last eight months. It forms part of broader urban upgrades linked to ongoing undergrounding works in the city. --- ## Traffic Calming in Carrer de Girona Square The redevelopment of Plaça del Carrer de Girona includes traffic calming measures on Carrer de Marquès de Monistrol and Carrer de Carles Buïgas. The plan introduces a single-level surface to prioritise pedestrian movement and improve urban connectivity. New pedestrian routes will be created, including a connection from the intersection of Carrer de Carles Buïgas and Carrer de Matilde Bertran. Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and a reclaimed water irrigation network will be installed to manage rainwater sustainably. Additional green space, shaded rest areas and new children's play zones are planned. The project, with a budget of €1,666,370.22 funded by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, is expected to be approved in November 2026 and start construction in the second quarter of 2027. > This project is part of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area's Environmental Sustainability Plan, aiming to strengthen sustainable urban mobility policies and promote ecological transition. --- ## New Underground Facility in Plaça Dicià A new multipurpose underground facility will be built in Plaça Dicià, funded by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area with a budget of €1,355,000\. The space will host associative activities and serve as the new rehearsal hall for Castellers de Sant Feliu. The surrounding area will also be redeveloped to improve public use and green space.
