# Generalitat Revives Disability Aid for 130+ Products

The Generalitat de Catalunya has relaunched its Social Care Benefit for People with Disabilities (PUA), allocating €6.9 million to help cover the cost of more than 130 technical and mobility products purchased between 2024 and 2026.

Announced by Minister of Social Rights and Inclusion Raúl Moreno on 24 August 2026, the call marks the reinstatement of a benefit not issued for nearly three years. Applications open immediately and must be submitted by 2 October.

The aid covers essential items such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, electronic magnifiers, sign language courses, vehicle adaptations, articulated beds and hoists, products critical to daily living and personal autonomy for people with physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities.

## Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the PUA, applicants must have a recognised disability of 33% or greater and an annual income below €33,677.33, the equivalent of 3.5 times Catalonia’s 2026 Sufficiency Income Index, according to the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion.

The benefit supports retroactive claims for purchases made in 2024, 2025 or 2026, allowing eligible individuals to reclaim part of the cost. The Department estimates the measure could support between 5,500 and 6,000 people across Catalonia.

This revival forms part of wider efforts to strengthen social care, including measures to reduce waiting times for dependency services. The Generalitat promotes full integration and improved quality of life for people with disabilities through services like the Sirius Personal Autonomy Center, which offers free advice on accessibility and independence.
