Ada Vilaró, the festival’s director, said reaching 25 years was a “miracle” made possible by perseverance, a dedicated team, and strong community support. “We are very proud to be able to reach 25 years and to be surrounded by great artists, a great team of professionals, and a great audience,” she said. ## Reclaiming Public Space Through Art The festival is dedicated to bringing art into public spaces, challenging the increasing privatisation of urban areas. “For pedestrians to stumble upon a performance by chance, to stop and be shaken by it,” Vilaró explained. Among the early performances was *600, el temps de les maletes* by Cosinsart, a poetic 15-minute piece staged in front of Can Felipa featuring a vintage 600 car and memories shared through objects. Also on display was *Dia raro* by theatre company Lasombrada, a gesture-based performance using masks to explore miscommunication despite modern connectivity. These short pieces are part of Embrions #13, a programme supporting emerging artists by showcasing works in development. Other initiatives include Les Escèniques, which supports women-led projects, and Al Poblenou Fem Performances, focused on public-space performance. - Performances take place in Can Felipa, Can Framis, Sala Beckett, and public spaces in [Poblenou](https://barna.news/escena-poblenou-festival-turns-25/). - The full programme includes theatre, dance, circus, music, and participatory activities. - Most events are free and open to the public. ## Anniversary Cabaret and New Book Launch --- On Saturday 24th October at 9.45pm, a special cabaret-style anniversary party will be held at the Centre Moral i Cultural del Poblenou. The event will feature short performances by Glòria Ribera, Hotel iocandi, L’Última Merda, Llum de Fideu, Cia. Miquel Barcelona, and Las Glòries Cabareteres, followed by music from DJ Nicky. > "We organize meetings between professionals and artists to see if relationships are established and we can support these creations," said Vilaró. To mark the milestone, the book *L’escena que crema*, coordinated by journalist Oriol Puig Taulé and co-published by Arola Editors and Recomana, has been released. It features reflections from 60 cultural voices on the state of live arts and the festival’s impact. What this means for you: Residents and visitors can attend free and ticketed events across Poblenou until Sunday 25th October.
