The move follows more than two years of restricted access due to major renovation works that began in June 2024\. During the night of 28–29 September, city crews will carry out final adaptations to restore two-way traffic flow. From Tuesday morning, the downhill lane, on the Raval side of the promenade, will be open exclusively to local residents, service vehicles, and those accessing underground car parks. ## New Rules for Loading and Unloading The reopening includes the activation of designated urban goods distribution (DUM) zones along the downhill lane, which will be clearly signposted. A new operating schedule for all DUM areas on La Rambla will also take effect: loading and unloading will be permitted only between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. To help businesses adapt, a team of city informants has begun visiting shops and service providers on La Rambla and adjacent streets. The adjustment aims to streamline logistics and reduce conflicts between delivery vehicles and pedestrian activity. ## Traffic and Access Adjustments The restoration of downhill traffic will allow Tallers Street to fully reopen to vehicles. Normal traffic directions on Xuclà and Bonsuccés streets will also be reinstated. At the same time, the temporary transverse crossings installed in the central section of La Rambla during construction will be removed, returning the promenade to a more linear configuration. > The works on La Rambla are advancing as scheduled and are expected to be completed by February 2027, when the fully renovated promenade will be unveiled. ## Public Transport Unchanged for Now Bus line 59, operating between Plaça Reina Maria Cristina and Poblenou, will continue to use Vía Laietana in the downhill direction until the full completion of the works. This reroute avoids the still-active construction zones in the central section of La Rambla.
