## Heavy Traffic Across Catalonia Ahead of Diada Holiday

The Catalan road network is experiencing significant congestion this Thursday 10 September 2026 as the exodus for the Diada holiday begins. The Servei Català de Trànsit forecasts that approximately 550,000 vehicles will leave the Barcelona metropolitan area between this afternoon and noon on Friday, according to reporting confirmed by COPE and El Periódico. Peak traffic is expected between 2:00 PM and 8:30 PM today, particularly on key routes including the AP-7, B-23, B-30, C-17, C-58, and coastal access roads. Drivers face long delays across multiple highways. On the AP-7, there are 4.5 km of traffic jams between Santa Perpètua de Mogoda and Barberà del Vallès heading towards Martorell due to a vehicle breakdown closing one lane. The B-20 has five kilometres of congestion southbound from Nus de la Trinitat to Nus del Llobregat. The B-10 also reports three kilometres of jams between Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Outside Barcelona, the A-2 has four kilometres of tailbacks near Jorba towards Lleida, while in Girona province, the N-260 shows 6.4 km of heavy traffic between Vilafant and Navata in both directions due to landslides, with alternate passage in effect.

## Fire on Montjuïc Causes Smoke and Ronda Litoral Disruptions

A wildfire has broken out in the Mossèn Costa i Llobera gardens on Montjuïc, producing a large column of smoke visible across Barcelona. Firefighters have deployed five units to contain the blaze near Miramar Road. The fire is affecting traffic on the Ronda Litoral (B-10), where reduced visibility and emergency operations have led to additional delays. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when passing through the area.

> Extreme caution is recommended when driving through the affected section of the Ronda Litoral.

Smoke from the fire is clearly visible from the B-10 and surrounding districts, including Poblenou and Barceloneta, where queues are forming in the direction of the Llobregat.

## Rodalies Delays Continue Amid Diada Service Boost

Despite planned reinforcements, Rodalies services continue to experience disruptions. The train from Barcelona-Sants to Portbou at 10:16 AM was delayed by 40 minutes due to a resolved technical issue at the origin station. Lines R2 Sud, R13, R14, R15, R16, and R17 are running with stops at all stations and average delays exceeding 30 minutes, particularly along the corridor between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Barcelona. The R4 maintains single-track operation between Castellbisbal and Martorell, leading to delays of up to 20 minutes. However, Renfe will add 25,000 extra seats across lines R1, R2, R4, R11, and R16 on Friday, 11 September, to accommodate increased travel demand for the Diada. Of these, 22,000 seats will be available in the Barcelona area, mainly between 3:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Additional FGC services are also scheduled, with 348 more runs on the Barcelona-Vallès line and 176 on the Llobregat-Anoia route. Trains to Manresa and Igualada will run with double capacity, six cars instead of three, on Friday. Passengers are advised to consult real-time updates via the [Rodalies website](https://rodalies.gencat.cat/?ref=barna.news) or app before travelling.
