## Flight DL195 Returns Safely After Engine Incident

A Delta Airlines Airbus A330-300 operating flight DL195 from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to Atlanta had to make an emergency landing on Friday 25 September 2026 after flames were observed in one of its engines shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, carrying 293 passengers and crew, had departed on time but began circling over the Viladecans area to dump fuel before returning to the airport. Witnesses in the Remolar district reported hearing a loud explosion. "It sounded like a bomb going off," said Jose Luis, a local photographer who was near the flight path at the time. "I saw flames coming from the engine as it climbed."

## Emergency Response and Runway Clearance

Emergency services and airport firefighters were on standby as the plane landed safely on runway 24R. Crews worked for approximately 35 minutes to secure the aircraft before it was moved off the runway, restoring normal operations. The incident caused temporary disruption to departing and arriving flights, though no injuries were reported. Passengers were evacuated and taken to a secure area within the terminal.

Delta Airlines said in a statement. The airline confirmed the aircraft model as an Airbus A330-300 and that the flight was scheduled to depart at 11:00 local time.

## Investigation Underway

While a bird strike is suspected as the cause of the engine failure, official confirmation has not yet been released by aviation authorities. The aircraft involved, registered as N803NW, had previously experienced an engine issue in February 2024, according to AeroInside. Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 and WhatFlyTime.sg confirm that flight DL195 operates daily between Barcelona (BCN) and Atlanta (ATL), with an average flight duration of around 10 hours. The Generalitat and AENA have opened a joint review of the incident. Passengers affected by the cancellation are being rebooked on alternative flights.
