Albiach made the appeal Tuesday in Badalona, criticising the Salvador Illa-led executive for failing to negotiate over the summer. She said the government 'went on holiday with an open conflict' and allowed the situation to deteriorate. 'Instead of acting, it chose to let time pass and let the conflict and crisis fester. This is not how to solve a crisis, it’s how to worsen it,' Albiach stated. --- ## Strike Confirmed Despite Ministerial Talks The strike was confirmed by USTEC, the largest education union, after a meeting with Education Minister Esther Niubó. The union said the government had not proposed a concrete timeline for negotiations on systemic issues in public education. > They have not made us a proposal for scheduling these meetings where we can negotiate \[.\], therefore, we invite the entire collective to join the strike to move towards the public school system that our country needs. , Iolanda Segura, USTEC spokesperson USTEC stressed that while some measures from a previous pre-agreement have been implemented, many demands remain unmet. 'Fulfilling what has already been agreed upon is an obligation of the Government and cannot serve to consider the negotiation closed,' the union said. Alongside USTEC, the CGT union and the newly formed Educational Assembly of Catalonia (AEC) have mobilised support for the industrial action. ### Call for Cross-Party Agreement Albiach argued that deep-rooted problems in inclusive education and academic performance, along with entrenched inequalities, require a cross-institutional response. She urged the government to treat education as a shared priority beyond political divisions.
