Organised by Grup Mediapro and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya’s (UPC) Gaudí Chair, the exhibition uses immersive technology to reveal the creative system behind Antoni Gaudí’s architecture. The experience invites the public to step inside digital reconstructions of buildings Gaudí designed but never built, based on years of academic research by the UPC’s Gaudí Chair using original plans and historical documentation. ## Step Inside Gaudí’s Unrealised Visions Visitors will be able to virtually explore projects such as the Hotel Attraction in New York, the Monumental Fountain in Plaça Catalunya, the Franciscan Missions in Tangier, and the University of Barcelona’s Auditorium (Paranimf). These spaces have been reconstructed using scientific criteria applied to preserved documentation. Rather than focusing on Gaudí’s biography, the exhibition aims to decode the geometry, functionality, symbolism and design processes that unified his work. Interactive installations allow guests to manipulate geometric shapes and understand the engineering principles behind his innovative structures. > This immersive exhibition invites the public to discover Antoni Gaudí’s creative system and, for the first time, to step inside some of the buildings that the architect imagined but were never actually built. ## Technology Meets Architectural Legacy The exhibition combines virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and large-scale audiovisual installations to make complex architectural and scientific concepts accessible to a broad audience. A panoramic audiovisual display presents Gaudí’s entire body of work, while interactive zones let visitors experiment with the geometric foundations of modernist architecture. Galdric Santana, professor at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) and director of the Gaudí Chair at UPC, curated the exhibition. It highlights Gaudí’s role as a researcher and inventor, showcasing how he used physical models, light studies and custom tools to solve structural challenges long before digital design tools existed. ## Official Recognition and Wider Collaboration The exhibition is part of the official Gaudí Year 2026 programme and has been declared an Event of Exceptional Public Interest by Spain’s Ministry of Culture and Finance. This recognition, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on 9 July 2025 under a Royal Decree-Law, underscores the project’s scientific rigor and cultural significance. It marks a rare collaboration among all major institutions responsible for Gaudí’s heritage, including the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, Casa Vicens, La Pedrera, Park Güell, Palau Güell, Colònia Güell, and others. --- ## Espai Imagina Launches as Cultural Landmark With 'Codi Gaudí' as its inaugural production, Espai Imagina establishes itself as a new hub for cultural innovation in Barcelona.
