## Festival Highlights Catalan Language Through Extreme Music

The second edition of the Catalunya Triomfant festival will take place today, Friday 11 September 2026, at Sala Paral·lel 62 in Barcelona, marking Catalonia’s national day, Diada, with a full programme of extreme metal performed entirely in Catalan. Organised by Hello Cleveland and Blood Fire Death agency, the event aims to elevate a musical scene often excluded from mainstream circuits. Jordi Meya of Hello Cleveland said the festival asserts that Catalan is a living language capable of powerful artistic expression beyond traditional or folkloric forms. The lineup features six bands representing diverse subgenres including black metal, death metal, doom, goregrind, and ritualistic heavy metal.

## Special Sets Mark Anniversary and Cultural Pride

Headlining the event is Foscor, one of Catalonia’s longest-standing extreme metal bands, which will mark its 25th anniversary with a special set performed exclusively in Catalan. According to organisers, this repertoire will be unique to the Diada performance. Other acts include Angoixa, a death metal band active for over a decade with all lyrics in Catalan; Vrademargk from Terrassa, who will revisit material from their acclaimed album *Arrelats* and possibly debut new tracks; and Thanatopraxy, who will perform only their Catalan-language songs, setting aside their usual English repertoire for this show. Falç de Fetillera will bring a theatrical, ritualistic dimension to the stage, blending slow, heavy doom metal with folk elements, tribal dance, and symbolic staging. Amargor completes the bill with raw black metal led by vocalist M.W.

> We believe that Catalan should not be confined to a folkloric thing, but that it is a living language and fully valid for any kind of artistic expression.

### Doors Open at 17:00, Tickets Still Available

According to official schedules published by the organisers, doors open at 17:00\. The performance order is as follows:

- 17:30 – Thanatopraxy
- 18:25 – Amargor
- 19:20 – Falç de Fetillera
- 20:15 – Angoixa
- 21:10 – Foscor
- 22:30 – Vrademargk

Though the venue’s capacity has been slightly reduced this year, more than half of tickets had been sold over a week before the event, according to broken\_tomb magazine. Remaining tickets are available via Entradium at [entradium.com/ca/events/catalunya-triomfant-2](https://entradium.com/ca/events/catalunya-triomfant-2?ref=barna.news). The festival originated after promoters observed strong audience turnout for a February 2025 concert by Vidres a la Sang and Udol at Sala la Nau, where around 400 attendees demonstrated significant public interest in Catalan-language extreme metal.
