## State and Regional Deductions

Authorities generally eliminated the state deduction for habitual residence rental housing in 2015, according to betevé. However, a state transitional regime remains in place. This allows taxpayers to maintain the deduction if their rental contract predates 1 January 2015\. Under this regime, taxpayers can deduct 10.05% of the amounts paid. This applies if their taxable base is less than 24,107.20 euros annually.

## Catalonia’s Specific Rental Relief

Catalonia offers its own regional deductions for rental housing. One option allows a deduction of 10% up to a maximum of 500 euros annually. This increases to 1,000 euros for joint tax declarations. Additionally, for the autonomous part, a 10% deduction is available, up to a maximum of 1,000 euros annually. This applies if the [total taxable base](https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google/?ref=barna.news), minus the personal and family minimum, does not exceed 30,000 euros annually.

## Enhanced Deductions for Specific Taxpayers

Catalonia also provides a 20% deduction, up to a maximum of 1,000 euros annually. This applies if the total taxable base, minus the personal and family minimum, does not exceed 30,000 euros annually. Furthermore, the deduction percentage and maximum amount increase for certain taxpayers. If a taxpayer has a disability equal to or greater than 65%, or has a minor child in their care, the deduction rises to 25% and up to 1,200 euros. Understanding the calculation of the total taxable base, minus the personal and family minimum, is crucial for determining eligibility for these benefits.

Residents should review their financial situation carefully. They must ensure they meet all specific requirements for both state transitional regime and Catalan regional deductions. This will help them claim any applicable tax relief during the upcoming income tax campaign.
