Sabadell-based startup Geoskop has secured a major international agreement with Italian energy company Plenitude, the renewable energy arm of multinational giant [Eni](https://www.eni.com/en-IT/home.html?ref=barna.news). The Catalan firm will provide its advanced, big data-driven climate prediction services to Plenitude’s wind and solar energy parks across Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The deal, announced Sunday by the Generalitat’s Department of Business and Labour, marks a significant step for Geoskop, a climate intelligence company founded in 2020\. The firm specialises in forecasting weather patterns and climate variables up to twenty years into the future, providing crucial data for optimising the performance and long-term viability of renewable energy installations.

## The MWC Connection

ACCIÓ, the Catalan government’s agency for business competitiveness, facilitated the partnership. Geoskop’s connection with Plenitude was forged after its participation in the Open Innovation Challenge, a key event held during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. This initiative connects innovative local startups with large corporations seeking cutting-edge solutions.

The MWC has long been a catalyst for business in the city, with organisers recently announcing plans for [9,100 flights to accommodate its 20th anniversary](https://www.reddit.com/r/bcnenglishspeakers/comments/1aw335f/barcelona%5Fschedules%5F9100%5Fflights%5Ffor%5Fmwc%5F2026/?ref=barna.news). Geoskop’s success demonstrates the event’s growing role in fostering a vibrant ecosystem for tech firms, a sentiment echoed by industry leaders who have hailed Barcelona as a model for tech adoption.

## A New Paradigm in Climate Forecasting

Geoskop’s technology moves beyond traditional meteorological analysis, which often relies on past weather data. Instead, it leverages big data from sophisticated climate models to provide more accurate, forward-looking insights into factors like wind speed, temperature, and solar radiation.

Joan Saladich, founder and CEO of Geoskop, explained the strategic advantage of their approach. In a statement reported by [Europa Press](https://www.europapress.es/catalunya/noticia-startup-catalana-geoskop-alia-plenitude-anticipar-clima-parques-renovables-20260315122438.html?ref=barna.news), he said their technology offers a critical edge.

> “Our predictions allow for the future impact of climate change to be incorporated into investment and industrial management decisions, offering more precise estimates than those based solely on historical climatology.”

Geoskop delivers these services through its proprietary RADS platform. This tool combines technical resource analysis with business data visualisation, empowering [Plenitude](https://corporate.eniplenitude.com/en?ref=barna.news) to optimise both its initial investment decisions and the ongoing maintenance of its renewable parks.

## Supercomputing Power and Future Prospects

Furthermore, Plenitude’s parent company, Eni, selected Geoskop to participate in its prestigious Call4Innovators programme. This initiative provides the Catalan startup with access to Eni’s HPC6 supercomputer, one of the world’s six most powerful supercomputers dedicated to industrial use.

This access will enable Geoskop to further develop its climate research and refine its predictive models, solidifying its position at the forefront of climate tech. The deal with Plenitude is one of many recent success stories for local startups securing international partnerships, highlighting the global appeal of Catalan innovation.
