On Monday 19th October 2026, the Castelldefels City Council held a working meeting with local neighbourhood associations to review the ongoing impact of aircraft noise from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport and assess municipal responses. The discussion focused on current and future airport activities affecting the town’s residents, particularly flight paths, noise levels and proposed infrastructure changes.

## Key issues under review

Participants examined several active and upcoming matters, including the proposed [airport expansion](https://barna.news/barcelona-airport-expansion-on-track/), the new Airport Regulation Document (DORA 2027–2031), the Master Plan, and the Strategic Environmental Study. Also discussed were planned runway maintenance works and the distribution of aircraft arrivals between Castelldefels and Gavà Mar. The council provided updated statistics on environmental impact in the municipality and outlined its monitoring of formal complaints and advocacy efforts.

> The city council reaffirmed its commitment to reducing the acoustic impact of the airport and defending residents' quality of life.

## Neighbourhood groups call for stronger action

Representatives from several Castelldefels neighbourhood associations attended the session, maintaining their active role in advocating for quieter skies and better information channels. They requested updated progress reports on key projects and proposed measures such as influencing European noise regulations, improving noise measurement systems, and increasing public awareness campaigns.

A key initiative presented during the meeting was the digital platform [cielo.defels.es](https://cielo.defels.es/?ref=barna.news), designed to streamline the reporting of aircraft noise complaints to both AENA and the City Council. The platform aims to improve data collection and transparency, helping authorities track and respond to incidents more effectively.

## Municipal monitoring and public access

The Municipal Office for Airport Monitoring and Control (OMSICA) continues to coordinate the city’s response. OMSICA maintains a dedicated section on the city council’s website where residents can access news, reports and official actions related to airport operations at [www.castelldefels.org/ca/serveis/aeroport](https://www.castelldefels.org/ca/serveis/aeroport?ref=barna.news).

Citizens can report noise disturbances or seek information via email at [omsica@castelldefels.org](mailto:omsica@castelldefels.org) or by contacting the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) on 93 665 11 50\. Complaints are forwarded to AENA, the airport operator, through its environmental information service at [saimbcn@aena.es](mailto:saimbcn@aena.es).

According to AENA, 13 fixed and three mobile Noise Measurement Terminals (NMTs) are deployed around the airport, including units in Castelldefels at Baliza E., Edumar and City Hall, to monitor noise levels in real time.
