## Robbery Attempt Foiled in Ciutadella Park

A tourist couple from Serbia were targeted in a failed robbery attempt in Plaça de Joan Fiveller, within Ciutadella Park, just metres from the Catalan Parliament, on Thursday 5th November 2026\. Two men, both around 25 years old, approached the couple under the pretence of asking for directions before attempting to snatch the male tourist’s watch, leaving him with a scratch on his wrist. The incident occurred at midday, during a plenary session attended by several ministers at the parliamentary chamber. Government bodyguards assigned to secure the entrance to the parliamentary headquarters witnessed the disturbance as the victims and bystanders shouted “stop the thief” while trying to block the suspects’ escape.

## Swift Arrests by Security and Police

The pursuit ended within seconds when an off-duty Mossos d'Esquadra officer, who was walking his dog nearby, intercepted and physically restrained one of the fleeing suspects. With support from a responding patrol, the bodyguards detained the first man at the scene. The second suspect was apprehended an hour later in the El Born neighbourhood after the off-duty officer conducted a search of the surrounding area.

## Watch Valued at 1,000 Euros

The stolen item, a Hamilton brand watch, is valued at 1,000 euros. The Serbian tourists, who were two weeks into a holiday in Barcelona, described the attackers as “stupid and clumsy”. Both detainees were taken to the Ciutat Vella district police station for identification and to be checked against databases of repeat offenders. Officers involved in the arrests reported no prior record of either individual. The Mossos d'Esquadra maintain a public directory of police stations, including location, contact details, and access information, available via the [Generalitat’s official portal](https://mossos.gencat.cat/.content/home/dadesobertes/comissaries/index.html?lang=en&ref=barna.news) for public use.
