The work, which started in August 2026, is being funded by CatSalut and is scheduled for completion in August 2028\. The new units will be located on the first and third floors of the main building, in the area formerly occupied by operating rooms. According to the hospital’s manager, Dr Cristina Capdevila, the redesign will create facilities better adapted to the complexity of current patient needs and improve functionality for healthcare professionals. ## Improved Layout and Facilities The renovated spaces will follow current clinical pathways, with layouts that enhance visibility from nursing stations, streamline movement of patients and medical equipment, and bring staff closer to patient care areas. All rooms will feature accessible bathrooms, and medical infrastructure and equipment will be fully renewed. These will connect basement levels to the 13th floor, reducing transfer wait times and easing pressure on existing lifts.
