The Barcelona Zoo experienced a record-breaking summer with over 207,000 visitors, marking a 13% increase from the previous year.
The boost is attributed to initiatives promoting biodiversity awareness, such as the Espai Invertebrats and educational activities like the Nature Passport. Additionally, 11 summer camps hosted by the Zoo welcomed 1,040 children, all available spots filled. The first deputy mayor highlighted the Zoo’s success in educating the public about biodiversity and fostering respect for nature. As the new school year begins, the Zoo resumes educational activities for schools and families. The program includes activities in educational spaces, laboratories, and school classrooms. The Zoo’s efforts in engaging the community through fun and educational experiences have proven fruitful.
