Barcelona offers diverse cultural experiences this weekend with painting exhibitions, horror film screenings and traditional tapas tours. The city’s cultural institutions have organised multiple events running through Sunday.

## Artistic Highlights

[Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya](http://Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya) presents a major retrospective of Catalan modernist painters. The exhibition features over 80 works from private collections never previously displayed publicly.

Halloween at Poble Espanyol / **Poble Espanyol**

Additionally, [MACBA](https://fundaciomacba.es/es/conversacion-sobre-criptoarte-y-nfts-con-llucia-homs-y-beatriz-ordovas/?ref=barna.news) hosts contemporary installations exploring urban landscapes. Visitors can attend guided tours at 11am and 4pm daily. Meanwhile, local galleries in El Born offer free entry for weekend viewings.

The [modernism celebrations](https://barna.news/colonia-guell-hosts-25th-modernism-festival-celebration/) continue across the city with special architectural tours. However, some venues require advance booking due to limited capacity.

There is also the Halloween “La Zona” in Poble Espanyol running on Friday nights (17/24/31st Oct) – for those that like to be frightened.

## Seasonal Events

Horror film enthusiasts can attend special Halloween screenings at [Sitges Film Festival](https://sitgesfilmfestival.com/en?ref=barna.news) venues. The programme includes classic thrillers and new independent productions. In contrast, family-friendly alternatives feature animated films.

Traditional [tapas routes](https://barna.news/iconic-bomba-tapas-route-returns-to-barceloneta-until-31-october/) operate in Gràcia and Poble-sec districts. Participating establishments offer special menus showcasing Catalan cuisine. According to organisers, approximately 45 restaurants are participating this weekend.

This weekend also marks the last for [Oktoberfest](https://www.oktoberfest-barcelona.es/?ref=barna.news), so get down to Barcelona Fira to participate in beer drinking and pretzel eating.
