Barcelona prepares for dual feminist protests on International Women’s Day

This year, Barcelona will host two feminist protests on March 8th, the International Women’s Day.

The Assemblea 8M will march for recognition of care work, while the Coordinadora 8M will focus on different issues, including a stance against considering trans women as women. The Assemblea 8M supports the inclusion of trans women in feminism, while the Coordinadora 8M argues against it. There are also contrasting views on prostitution and pornography, with the Coordinadora 8M advocating for their abolition. The two groups cannot reconcile their differences, reflecting a wider divide within feminist movements. The question arises: Can feminism progress if internal disagreements hinder unity and progress towards common goals?
