Four men, aged between 27 and 39, were arrested in Barcelona on 20 April after a high-speed police chase. They allegedly committed a "hole-in-the-wall" burglary at a phone shop on Avenida Meridiana.

Mossos d'Esquadra officers, with support from the [Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona](https://ajuntament.barcelona.cat/guardiaurbana/en?ref=barna.news), apprehended the suspects. The men were attempting to flee the scene in a high-end vehicle. Police found numerous stolen items and burglary tools inside their car.

## High-Speed Pursuit Across Barcelona

A Mossos patrol first spotted the suspicious vehicle at 04:00\. It was driving between Avenida Meridiana, a major city artery, and Calle Aragó. Officers tried to stop the car. However, the driver sped away, ignoring traffic signals and driving on the pavement. The chase continued onto the Ronda Litoral, Barcelona's coastal ring road.

Additional agents from the Regional Public Security Area (ARRO) joined the pursuit. They set up a containment operation. The five occupants of the vehicle eventually stopped. They then abandoned the car and fled on foot towards the port area. Police successfully arrested four of them. The investigation remains open.

## "Butrón" Burglary Method Used

The alleged thieves used the "butrón" method, creating a hole in the meter room of a building next to the shop. This allowed them to access the premises directly. This technique involves breaking through a wall or ceiling to gain entry, often from an adjacent property. Police later received a report that a phone shop had been looted.

## Stolen Goods and Tools Recovered

Inside the abandoned vehicle, police discovered a significant haul of stolen goods. These included 15 high-end watches, seven mobile phones, three V16 beacons, two smart television devices, and four external batteries. Officers also found a television remote control, a video game console, and 43 wireless headphones. The car also contained various tools used for burglaries, such as a drill and an electric jack.

The four arrested men appeared before a judge. Authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
