# 100 Affordable Homes Up for Grabs in El Prat Lottery

## Public Lottery for 100 Social Rental Homes

Next Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at 5 PM, a public lottery will be held at Teatre l’Artesà in El Prat de Llobregat to allocate 100 affordable rental homes. The draw will be conducted under notarial supervision to ensure transparency and will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Eligible applicants, registered with the official protected housing applicants’ register, will be entered into the draw for the homes developed on public land. The event will be attended by Mayor Alba Bou Jordà, Josep Maria Puig, president of the Família i Benestar Social Foundation, and Carme Trilla, president of the Hàbitat3 Foundation.

## Expanding Affordable Housing Stock

This lottery marks the second phase of a broader municipal housing strategy. The first development, managed by Cooperativa Obrera de Viviendas, has already delivered 101 homes since January 2026\. Together with two upcoming projects by Prat Espais, one with 72 homes in Eixample Sud and another with 8 homes on Carrer de Vicente Ferrer, the town is adding over 316 affordable units this term. According to the municipality’s Local Housing Plan 2021–2027, these developments aim to expand the town’s sustainable and energy-efficient rental stock. The public housing portfolio has now more than doubled, exceeding 700 affordable apartments.

- The 8 homes on Carrer de Vicente Ferrer, built using modular construction and sustainably sourced wood, are funded in part by €286,636 in EU Next Generation grants and €160,000 from the Catalan government’s social housing fund.
- The building will also feature photovoltaic panels to power communal areas.
- Prat Espais, the municipal housing promoter, is responsible for the project, with construction expected to take one year.

Further lotteries are expected in late 2026 for the Eixample Sud developments. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria set out in the official rules, including income thresholds and residency status. A minimum of 26% of units are reserved for people with special needs, and 20% for applicants under 36 years of age.
